In December 2009, Benoit Chenet launched his site Calage44.com, an idea as bright as an old, well-oiled car. Originally, the aim was to feed the information-hungry souls of collectors and vintage car enthusiasts in the Pays-de-La-Loire region. It was like giving a rusty DeLorean a service manual.
But the idea sparked faster than the starter motor of a '60s VW Beetle. The site spread to the Brittany region, proving that the passion for vintage cars is like rust, it doesn't stop at borders.
The site was then set up in October.
Then, in October 2010, like an expert mechanic hearing the gentle purr of a well-tuned engine, the national version was born, Retrocalage.com. The request came from clubs and event organizers across France, and they all wanted a piece of the action. Retrocalage.com was the full beacon on the road to success.
Today, Retrocalage.com has evolved far beyond simply providing news. It's become a network, a large community of classic car fans. It's as if lovers of fine mechanical engineering gathered around a campfire to tell tales of carburetors and xenon headlights.
.This site rolls on 5 founding principles:
1. Free information, because a love of classic cars shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.
2. Quality and accuracy of content, because nobody likes a faulty spark plug.
3. Proximity to users, because the classic car world is like a big family.
4. The responsiveness and speed of updates, because in the digital world, slowness is a flat tire.
5. The modernity of the digital medium, because even vintage cars deserve a little high-tech touch.
And so, Retrocalage.com continues to rev up the engines of classic car enthusiasts across France, ready to troubleshoot and keep the love of old cars humming.
