The (slightly offbeat) history of the 2 CV Márcatelo

A special series designed for the Hispanic market, the 2CV Márcatelo takes up an idea that won awards in France in 1976: the 2CV Basket. The aim? To offer a Deuche in keeping with the sporting atmosphere prevailing in Spain during the 1982 World Cup.

Initially planned in 500 units, Citroën Hispania eventually produced 300 of the 2CV Márcatelo. Based on a 2CV 6 CT (the Spanish equivalent of the French 2 CV Spécial, in Blanc Alaska), it was painted in the bright colors of the Spanish team's soccer jersey.

The design was inspired by the 2CV Basket (designed by Claire Pagniez) for the hood and the 2CV Charleston for the doors. In short, a clever mix that makes the Márcatelo a real collector's item. And let's face it: a 2CV dressed in soccer gear is a real eye-catcher. It almost looks like it's ready to score a goal with its headlights!
